Lost our December 2013 baby

We went in for our 8 week appointment on Tuesday and had an ultrasound Wednesday. There was a yolk sac but no baby--blighted ovum. Your body knows there's something wrong with the chromosomes so it does not develop the baby but you still have increased hormones, symptoms, etc. That's why it was such a shock. I had a d and c yesterday. This was our first shot on everything--trying to get pregnant, getting pregnant, then losing the pregnancy. 

Even though I'm very sad and disappointed, I am hopeful. I do go through times where I think, gosh, why did I tell so many people, why did I get so excited, why did I buy all these books, etc. But now I'll have everything for when we get pregnant again, and I will keep my mouth shut longer.

The good news is we were able to get pregnant. We can try again in 4-6 weeks, so hopefully I'll be joining the February 2014 or March 2014 Moms.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  There are so many complex emotions around miscarriage.  My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage and I had a d&c.  

We had told some family and friends early on, and I ended up appreciating the support and understanding, it can definitely be tough to "untell" people though.

T&P for your physical and emotional healing.  When you are ready and able to try again, I'd definitely recommend the TTCAL board, it's a very supportive group of women!

No symptoms. That's why it was such a shock. They weren't going to do an ultrasound at first either, but I said I was an anxious person and I wanted to make sure everything was ok. I'm glad I did. Emotionally, I don't know if I could've handled miscarrying naturally.

I am very sorry. I have to say that all of those people you told are people who knew and appreciated that YOUR BABY EXISTED. That is a very good thing. I wouldn't regret telling them.

So sorry for your loss! I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy too. Had a D and C in January and now I'm due in December! It was awful, kept thinking why it was happening, we are young and it was our first time, but everything happens for a reason. I didn't really have symptoms my first pregnancy either. Now I'm exhausted all the time, achy back, food aversions and am nauseas on and off most days...still extremely nervous, but already had one ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw the fetus and saw the heartbeat. We're going again next week at 8 weeks for another ultrasound. Since we had the loss they are much more attentive when you get pregnant again, I went 3 times for blood work to check my levels, early ultrasounds etc. You just need to stay positive and believe that next time will be the time! So sorry for your loss.  I had a miscarriage earlier this year and I was happy for the support from people I had told.  I do wish I hadn't told some people, but most where really supportive.
