Now an MRI.....BU, AU, or SU? (a bit long)

I went in yesterday for my CD3 labs and u/s and actually got to see the ultrasonographer and not just the NP who usually does it. She started and then my NP also came in and said well we called in the ultrasonographer because your RE is still concerned you have a BU (bicornuate ute) or spetate so we wanted her to look at it. Sure enough they think they see a spetate and want to order an MRI. Ugh!!!!! I thought this was already settled! I don't know why suddenly my RE feels like now we need to look again, but part of me is kind of glad.  I still felt a little unresolved about it and that is the last thing I want to be worried about if I ever do conceive. 

Back story: The radiologist who did my HSG said it was a BU. RE #1 said she couldn't tell and want a LAP and Hysteroscopy right away, back in Jan when we first saw her. That seemed a bit over eager so I got a second opinion from RE #2. He did a saline U/S and said I just have a slight dip at the top, but that it was a normal variant. I was so excited to hear that. But I didn't really like working with RE #2 for treatment, so I went back to RE #1 in late Feb who I did like but I just didn't want the surgery. She said we could move on to treatment now but said "Well, if you have a miscarriage that we can't find another reason for, then we will always wonder." Lovely.   

  So now I will be getting an MRI this time and not just the same test again, which I'm glad for. I'm waiting for a call from scheduling now. Hopefully it will be very soon or else I'll have to cancel IUI #2 AGAIN. I was told if everything looks fine I can do the IUI a few days after the MRI, but if they find something they need to correct obviously I'll need surgery and no IUI this cycle. I'm just so ready for this to be resolved once and for all. My HSG that started all of this drama was in Sept 2012 so we've been talking about this for 9 months now. Ha I could have had a baby in that time.

Wolfette: In the back of my mind I knew that this was still not settled and ever since we last spoke about it I've been wondering when I'd start hearing about my ute shape again. I pray that they find that everything really is OK with the shape and there is no septum.  So not looking forward to surgery if that is needed.

I'm sorry Cara.  But I hope that after the MRI you can have more confidence moving forward.  And I hope that you can move forward without surgery.  But if not, at least you'll be taking care of it now instead of further down the road.

9 months without a certain diagnosis must be hard to deal with. I'm in limbo now too though my "quest" has only been since January. My OB thought it was a BU from an u/s in January, but didn't seem too concerned about it. Her biggest concern was a breech

Sorry you are going through this. Hopefully you will get some information from your MRI and not need surgery. FX all goes well and you can get the go ahead for your IUI this cycle.
