Transitioning to crib

Like several others, we have our LO sleeping next to us in a RNP.  I know we need to start thinking about transitioning him to his room & crib.  When are you all planning to do that?  Any suggestions re: how to make a smooth transition?  I've tried a few nap times in there.  We have a video monitor...I'm afraid I'll be up all night watching & listening to the monitor!!!  LOL!  My other fear is the opposite...that I'll sleep soundly & NOT hear him at all since the gurgling, grunting, breathing, etc. isn't right beside me!  Let me know what you think, Blog Sistas!  :)

Re: Transitioning to crib

  • We went from RNP to PNP that was in our room for a week then went to the crib. He prefers to sleep on his back anyways so it was not a hard transition. He has been in the crib for two weeks now. He sleeps more now that he is in his own room. So do we. :)

I'm not too worried about the transition. DS has been sleeping flat on his back in the bassinet since day one. I've started putting him in the crib for naps as he isn't napping well in the swing anymore. DH doesn't want to move him until he drops the 2 to

  • We made the move at 5 weeks but then struggled to sleep ALL night in the crib. 3 am feeding we wouldn't go back to sleep unless it was in the RNP. So we started fresh with a new routine and it seems to be ok so far: I think DS knows that Mommy is the one
  • My pedi recommends room sharing until 4 months due to decreased SIDS risk. Anyone else?
  • I am not planning to move ds to crib in his room until we dont need the furnace on. He had too many problems with keeping his body temp out of hypothermic temps for his first few weeks so I am just not comfortable putting him where I cant just reach over
