1st Trimester

9 weeks I haven't had my first prenatal visit

So I turned 9 weeks today and I found out I don't qualify for medical so I'm applying for another type of government insurance but it will still take another week or so to get my confirmation that I am accepted through their insurance. I haven't had my first prenatal visit to a doc yet. Is this really bad? Has anyone seen their doc after 9 weeks?

Re: 9 weeks I haven't had my first prenatal visit

  • My first visit is at 10w where they just do intake, I don't see my midwife until my 12th week, so it's common, since I'm not high risk and no history of m/c I assume.

But, go buy some OTC prenatal vitamins and start those!

  • Are you talking about state insurance like Medicaid? If so and you're pregnant, normally they would approve you rather quickly at least temporarily for that reason, at least they do that in IA/IL (I do medical billing).

What state do you live in?
  • It's not bad. Some doctors' offices don't even see patients until second trimester.

  • I'm 10 weeks and haven't even been accepted as a patient yet with my potential OB. If I get denied for some reason then I will have to start all over with someone else so who knows when I'll have an appointment. There is nothing they do now that can't be
  • I did start prenatal vitamins and the program it's called AIM its for mid income since I'm married and my husband and I don't qualify for the low income guidelines of medical. But good to know I'm not the only one I was starting to worry
  • I just had my 1st visit this week. I'm 13w. It was the first I could get in. Just take your vitamin and live healthy.
  • All these posts about now bring able to get in yet or still waiting to be accepted. Welcome to universal healthcare! Yes it sucks!

To answer your question. It will be fine, just get in as soon as you can. But there is nothing magical at am 8
  • The first visit I had was at a womens resource clinic that gave me an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy and check for heartbeat. That was before I left Florida to move to Illinois. I just turned in all my paperwork yesterday for medical card so I'm hoping s
