So our first IUI ended with a BFN yesterday... So we are on for surgery some time next week. It is either going to be on Monday or Wednesday, but it depends which hospital is available. The goal is to get my cervix open and to stay open! She also wants to do another IUI this month, and that's why she wants the surgery so quickly (today is CD2). After surgery I am going to go in to the clinic and re-dilate the cervix a few times to try and break down the scar tissue.
She is giving us the option to use Femara... I feel like if we are already paying over a thousand dollars, why not pay a little more to give that extra boost? I will be completely monitored & my tubes are clear. She thinks we dont necessarily need to use it, and the side effect she is concerned about is the reduction of lining in the uterus. Dilating the cervix may also interfere with the growth of the lining too she mentioned.
A little history to why she thinks we dont need it: Last month when they did the IUI, I had fluid and build-up in my uterus. It took a lot of jabbing and poking to get through the cervix with the catheter. The following two days I had a LOT of old fluid and build-up come out. They think a good amount of sperm might have come out with it, leaving very little sperm left to make there way to the egg. She thinks if my cervix stays open and remains empty I have a good chance of getting pregnant. I ovulate on my own and had a good size follicle last month.
So now i'm stuck on if we should use Femara with this IUI or skip it? I have to decided by tomorrow because thats when I would need to start. She is willing to prescribe, but again she doesn't think we need it. I feel if Im already paying that much for the IUI, I might as well pay a little more to give an extra boost. But I dont want to take away from the lining...
Advice or past experiences ladies?!?!
