I love old-lady / old-man type names. If we have a boy, we are going to use a really pretentious sounding family surname as a middle name. So I want to make sure the first name isn't snotty sounding, which a lot of old-man names are. Right now my top choices are Norman, Howard, and Alfred (nn Fred).
LO's last name starts with Sh- and ends with -er, so some of my favorites are out (Ernest, Arthur, and Linus).
Any suggestions?

Wait, just saw Linus on your no go list. Are you avoiding names that end in s?

Love Howard & Alfred
My boys are Theodore & Francis both with surname MNs. If this one is a boy he will probably be George.

I love the older style names as well, my youngest middle name is Everett and I love it.
I've always been a big fan of Ezra, Pierce, Oliver and for some reason I do love Norman.
