One negative of the crib transition

DS has been STTN in his crib for almost a month now, which is wonderful. The one negative though, for me anyway, is I'm worrying about him so much more at night, and unfortunately it hasn't been getting better for me. We have the monitor on, but I'm just so scared with him not next to us, that if he needed me I'm not right there. He sometimes snores, which is actually comforting for me to hear.. and then when I don't hear him, I have a hard time falling asleep. I'm still going in to check on him when I get up to go to the bathroom, etc., usually a couple times before going to bed and then in the MOTN if I wake up for any reason.

I certainly don't want to regress and bring him back into our room. He's done great, loves the crib and his mobile, etc. I think it's the right move for everyone...  I guess it's just taking longer for ME to adjust having him in his crib. I'd also rather not go out and by the Snuza/Angel care monitor.. I know it'd bring a lot of peace of mind, but I think I just need to work through this..

Maybe I'm dealing with a little PP anxiety. I'm usually in tears every night for a few minutes after he goes to bed, consumed with worry. It's just weird though, because when he was born I was ok and wasn't feeling like this. It seems that the anxiety has worsened over the past month or so. It might also have something to do with my anxiety about going back to work at the end of the month, too..

Hoping it gets better. I guess we'll never stop worrying about our babies, but I know that crying every night is a bit much.

Thanks for listening

Re: One negative of the crib transition

  • Honestly I had the same issue.  SIDs scares me to death.  I actually suffer from bad anxiety and I bought the snuza 2 days after DD was born and I feel so much better at night.  It was the best $100 I ever spent.

  • Buy the Snuza. It's 100 bucks and it will let you sleep through the night. It is the only thing that keeps me from staying awake all night checking on her.

  • Another vote for the Snuza! I got mine from Amazon, and I think it was a little less than $100.

  • There is no way I would be able to sleep without our Snuza!!
  • I hear you that you feel you need to work through it, but at the same time, we are all working through/pushing through so very much. Why give yourself one more burden?

I felt very anxious in the early days. Once we s

  • I also agree on the Snuza. It is wonderful! Before we had one I would wake up throughout the night just to make sure DS was breathing. I haven't felt the need to even once since we got it! It's SO worth the peace of mind!
  • I loVe my angelcare.  Give yourself a break and get either a snuzaor an angelcare.  Why be more stressed/anxious then you need to be!

  • I don't have a snuza, but I do have a video monitor which has helped me. I was the same way you are... Until DH went out one day and got the video monitor and set it up while I was at work. You can turn the image part off if you want and just have audio,

  • I realize there seems to be a plethora of people who use the Snuza; I'm going to vote the other way, though.  DS has been in his own room since he was 4 weeks old; and while I do sometimes check on him, and I'm still a tiny bit paranoid, you do need

  • Ok, while buying the Snuza is probably a good idea if it will make you feel better, I also think you should chat with your doctor about what you are feeling.  I have no experience with PPA, but if you are in tears every night with worry, it wouldn't

  • Thanks for all your input. I really appreciate it. Last night was better.. No tears, and I was actually comforted by my dog randomly deciding to sleep next to the crib for the first time. I am going to see how it goes but may purchase the snuza soon. I th
