Am I the only one?

My family keeps trying to give Thomas ice cream, then give me the side eye when I tell them not to, we haven't given it to him yet.  I was really confident in it, but now I feel like maybe I'm a weirdo.  FWIW, we're only doing like fruit, veggies, whole grains, and some lean proteins right now, and he's getting a ton of variety in his diet and tastes, I'm just not doing junk food and sweets at this point.

Okay, so typing that out, made me realize I'm doing the right thing.  Anyone else getting the side eye for not giving their kid "junk" yet?

Re: Am I the only one?

  • i don't like giving LO's things that aren't "wholesome".  IL's tried to give them cake the other day and i got so annoyed.

  • Ha my Mom has given Dagny a taste of ice cream and she was NOT a fan. Probably bc it's cold. But no we don't give her sweets. We have given her an animal cracker at a birthday party and some pizza crust to chew on when we've gone out for pizza.

  • I'm still withholding sweets and other junk from Emily. However, if someone gave her a spoonful of ice cream without asking me, instead of flipping my sh!t like I would have [and totally did] with Ben, I'll just calmly ask them not to give her more. <b

  • We've already given him a bite or two of cake and ice cream. As long as you don't feed it to your child all the time it'll be okay.

  • Yes!  I am seriously going to ream my MIL out if she talks about giving LO ice cream or cake one more time.  LO has MSPI so dairy is out of the question until 1 year and we are going to give it to her in a controlled environment in case she has
  • We are holding off on junk food for now.  I even try to limit mum mums and puffs since I feel like they are just filler food without much nutrition.  They love them but it is a "treat".  We did have them try a couple little "dots" of dip

  • Yes! My sister and dad are obsessed with trying to give her sweets. I caught my dad giving her a "taste" of soda from his straw. I was like, dad, she really doesnt need to consume sugar and chemicals. Then my sister insisted on giving her a "taste" of

  • Nice to know I'm not the only one!

And dblies - you are a saint for not murdering your MIL yet.  I don't know how you put up with her, and even leave Hannah in DC with her!  But, you've got my respect!

  • I'm mostly avoiding sweets, although I did give E half a sugar cookie on Valentine's.

I can't say we're totally avoiding junk, because my kid loves all things carbs.  Pizza crust may well be her favorite food.

  • I've been keeping it healthy too.  I have given DD a few tiny tastes of fro yo - but I was more putting it on her gums because of teething.  I'd say she's had less than 1/2 a teaspoon her entire life.  I'm sure she'll have some sort of ice
