Are infant carseats safer?

Are infant carseats safer than rear-facing convertibles?  The twins are still in their infant carseats and still fit (we have the Keyfit 30's), so I'm wondering if I should keep them in there as long as possible.  The only reason I would switch them is for convenience because they are getting heavy.  We purchased one set of convertibles but would need to buy another set for DH before we switch.

 For those who have already switched, do you regret it or love it?

I posted a photo on FB of DD testing out her new carseat and I felt judged when a friend with a 12-month old said her LO was still in her infant carseat.  She's not small for her age either.

  • As long as they are still the right size for their infant seats, it's the same safety!  But it starts to get unsafe when they grow out of it and are still in them.
