About an hour after my husband and I DTD last night, I started to get some very uncomfortable (painful?) contractions that started in my lower back and radiated to the front. I was taken back by their intensity to be honest because in my mind I pictured the first contractions to be very mild period like cramps, and these were really demanding my attention. What caught me off guard was my lower back was feeling them intensely, I would describe it as painful more than discomfort in my lower back.
I started to time them after a little while to see if there was any pattern to them, but I found that they were lasting quite long in duration - around 2-3 minutes long, 5-7 minutes apart, with strong back ache lasting in between the actual contraction.
I was able to eventually fall asleep and woke up a few times with much milder contractions throughout the night. I got a good solid couple hours of sleep and when I got up this morning I felt completely normal, no contractions.
Does anyone relate to anything I felt last night? To be honest, I really got my hopes up in my head! Those contractions felt much stronger than I imagined the first contractions I would have to feel like.
I have an appointment this afternoon with my midwife and I'll be filling her in on last nights details and getting her input.
Thanks so much for any of your input. It's very exciting that we're already half way through April and so many birth announcements have been coming in every day!
Re: Early Labour Contractions ?
When it's the real thing, you won't be able to ignore them for long. Get plenty of rest now!
