Trouble TTC

Is this the right board for me?

I have been creeping on the board for awhile and wonder if I am on the right board. I would never want to be insensitive to others and be on the wrong board. I know this is a specialized board and wouldn't want to assume I am a part of it. I didn't know if I should be on the TTC board even though I have underlying issues. I am 28 and have been married for 8 years. I have been "clinically" diagnosed with PCOS for many years and have been on Metformin for years. I had my OB/GYN appointment recently with a pelvic & transvaginal ultrasound where he "confirmed" his diagnosis and proceeded to tell me I needed to start Clomid because I do not ovulate. I have taken Provera before as well to start my period. I am having a hard time understanding I guess what is going on I guess. If I do not ovulate, am I correct to assume that I will only ovulate (hopefully) with assistance such as Clomid? I didn't know if my OB/GYN was skipping steps or he was right on the money. I know all of you have been through this and so much more so any info you have I appreciate it. I didn't want to be given a drug like Clomid if other steps needed to be taken first.

Re: Is this the right board for me?

  • Sounds like this is the right board for you, but you are right to question your doctor skipping steps.  While clomid is what you will probably eventually need in order to bring on ovulation there are a few things to check first to make sure you ha

  • Are you taking meds for your thyroid? I have hypothyroidism also. If you are not taking meds or haven't been checked lately you should. If your levels are off and you do get pregnant, the baby could have problems later. Also, you will need to have that ch
  • Yeah I am followed by my PCP on the hypothyroidism. Everything always has been normal since I was started on Synthroid many years ago.
  • While we tell women with PCOS that they can still naturally get PG, if you are having to take provera to induce a period and have not ovulated on your own & have been Dx with PCOS- I see no harm in going straight to an RE at the point you're at. &n

  • Thanks for the info. I haven't taken birth control pills in years so I am good on that part of it, but definitely will call my insurance company to see if anything else is required. Thanks so much for the info. I just found some FAQs at the top of the boa

  • I'm in a similar boat as you are - my OBGYN suspected PCOS because I don't ovulate, but he never did any blood work or ultrasounds. He prescribed provera and clomid.  I did one cycle of clomid, but then I kept reading mroe and more, and I made an app
