Best bottoms issue

I know, I know, I promised I would stop talking about my best bottoms. But I have an issue and need your help resolving it so I can go back to gushing over my best bottoms!
Sometimes whe I change her after wearing these diapers, the insert is all bunched up in the crotch. It's like all squished in the center, then if it's a poo diaper the poo is all over the cover since the insert is squished and bunched.
Are my inserts too large? Diapers on too tight? Any ideas? TIA.

I see this with pretty much all of my inserts, whether it's the top flap of an AIO, or the prefold or insert in a pocket diaper. It just poses more of a problem in an A12 since there is no fabric underneath to catch any messes.

Sorry I posted and ran. The stomach virus hit my house, it's like a war zone. There's poop everywhere!
I think I will still love the best bottoms when she gets over this nasty diarrhea. The little inserts are no match for this mess!

No.  DC will only take AIOs or pockets, so that's mostly all we have.  The AIO's hold it in, but we were traveling so I was using the best bottoms to save space.
