Homemade Dryer Sheets?

Since we started CDing, we switched to only using wool dryer balls in the dryer, but I am finding that her wipes and our clothes/towels are stiffer than when we used softener and dryer sheets.

Would it hurt the inserts to use homemade dryer sheets like these:
