Baby Wearers, Come In.

Baby Bjorn was recently handed down to me, I've tried it around the house a couple of times, she seems to LOVE it (I faced her out). I just read a post on parenting that the Bjorn isn't all that good for baby's hips/legs, and can be hard on mom's back. I did notice my lower back start to ache and each time I only had her in it for maybe 30 minutes.

Do (m)any of you use the Bjorn? How big is your kid? Kate's definately every bit of 18 lbs, so I'm wondering if that's the cause for my back ache, is she too big for the Bjorn?

Also- what other carriers are you guys using that you like/doesn't hurt your back/doesn't have the warning of hip/leg issues for baby?

  • E is about 18 pounds and I recently ditched the Bjorn bc I actually tore a muscle in my neck for it.

I have a Beco Butterfly II which I now prefer.

The Moby is now useless, unfortunately.

Honestly, I like the stroller better. He's j

  • I had a Moby but he is just too big for it. I have a custom ring sling on the way so hopefully we are both more comfy. He is good at sitting in a buggy but he likes to be worn occasionally.

I just started wearing her in the bjorn again. She didnt love it when she was smaller. N is 13 lbs. Make sure you take out all the slack and the back piece is flush against you. That helps alleviate the back pain.

I also have the Maya wr

  • The Bjorn kills my back but is easier to thrown on for the store etc. dd was only 13 pounds a month ago so probably about 15 now. I have the ergo too and love it but babe can't face out. I think the Bjorn is fine for baby as long as you don't use it all d

  • Just like all the Pp's.. Had a Bjorn, killed my back. I recently purchased an Ergo and love it. You can not do outward facing with it if that is what you are looking for. DD is 18-ish pounds (I am guessing but she was 16lbs at her 4 month appointment a

  • If you are in LOVE with the Bjorn (I loathe it) - there is a model that has a waist strap and I've heard better things about it - still a "crotch dangler" but its an outward facing option - which most outward facers are "not recommended" for various re

  • I have the Bjorn which was great for the first 4 months. I recently used it on an outing and I feel he's just too heaven, he is 20 lbs, and too long, almost 29 inches. I'll be looking for another option.

  • I LOVE my Beco Gemini.  My son is 18 pounds and I can wear him comfortably for hours.  It does have the option to face out, which I will only do to run in and out of store and for a short time as it's "not recommended" for extended periods&nb

  • Love the Maya wrap.  I also have a mei tai I ordered from etsy...like it but it forces her legs apart a little too far now.  It worked better for DD1 when she was like 9-12 mo.

  • I never tried a bjorn, I used the My Baby Nest when he was tiny and liked to sleep in it, now we use our Ergo.  I love it and he doesn't mind facing me, he just looks to the side and chews on the strap, haha.  I don't know how I'd do my grocery
