ultrasound envy?

I'm confused... How come I'm not getting offered an ultrasound till 20 weeks during the anatomy scan... it seems like so many others are getting ultrasounds or have had multiple ones already I just don't get it. Is everyone paying for these scans without insurance out of pocket?????
to add to that I'm considered hirisk???

  • Every dr operates different. My dr. Gives ultrasounds in his office whenever he feels like there could be anything wrong and when he needs to do routine ones of course... You do have the option to get out of pocket 4Dultrasoubds for keepsakes

  • The OB even felt my uterus and said it was bigger than normal but then said your bladder must be full...I may be further along as I had an odd period the month before but I guess I wasn't big enough to account for a 4 week difference... of by the way I am

  • I have suffered a lot of bleeding and severe cramping over the past 6 weeks, so my doctor considered weekly ultrasounds necessary. I would rather forgo all "medically necessary" ultrasounds for an uncomplicated pregnancy with just an anatomy scan.

  • I am thankful that I've had no issues but it just seems odd...I thought being hirisk Id get more ... my Dr told me that shed only do a US if she didn't hear a heart beat which we did :. 3

  • I think it depends on your doctor and insurance. My insurance covers everything and I do not have to pay anything out of pocket. It also covers an ultrasound at every appointment and all tests as well.

  • At my office, there is a 12 minute ultrasound at each appointment. They don't use dopplers or measure fundal height or anything, they measure everything via ultrasound. And they record it onto a DVD each time as well! I love it.
