Cloth Diapering

Stained New Diapers

Hi all,

So I am new to cloth diapers and just washed my first load. My son is 6 months old and is EBF. All of my poopie diapers are now stained. I washed them in a cold wash and then on a hot with an extra rise. What am I doing wrong? I heard you didnt need to soak diapers that were from EBF kids. I feel like if I need to wash all my poopie diapers more times than what is needed for all the cloth diapers than it would be really expensive.

Any help would be great?

  • You could try sunning them. I'm also new to cding but have heard its one of the best ways.
  • Not everyone agrees that it is CD safe, but I sprayed the EBF poopy diapers with biokleen bac out and it really reduced the staining.

  • Honestly it's not a lot of work. You either sun the diapers outside or in a window, or you let the stains fade in subsequent washes. It's a stain. It's still a clean diaper and won't affect the use.

  • Poop stains and stains =/= dirty
If you're worried about resale value you can always just sun them before you sell.

  • Sun works like magic, but really it's just a stain, it doesn't mean it's dirty. If it bothers you just lay it in a sunny spot.

  • Mine are stained as well after only 3 weeks of use.  I just hang them to dry and put in dryer for 5min to soften.  I figure I'll sun them once the snow is gone.  They are clean so I don't mind.  My husband seemed to be a bit bothere
