I'm make the assumption that if you are going to someone house (whether it be playdate with kids, dinner, girls/guys night etc) you don't ask before you get there or as soon as you get there, "and is there a gun here!?" So if you were told there was/is a gun at a house (completely locked up and legit and all that) would you be surprised or do you assume people have guns?
ETA: "or do you assume ppl have guns?" to help my super scientific poll not be skewed. Also: sorry for the confusion.

Re: s/o gun disclosure CLICKY POLL!!
My neighbor is a cop, so I know there is at least one in the house. I also know that it is well locked when not on his person.
Other houses, I assume there isn't one. That's probably quite naive of me.
Ok. I answered the poll based on the question in the opening paragraph: "So if you were told there was/is a gun at a house, would you be surprised?"
My answer: "Um, NO."
Not the actual question of the poll, "Do you assume people have gun
Canadian living in the southern U.S. here.
I do not assume people have guns in their home, but I guess I should.
I have no friends or relatives who own a gun. As far as I know only one friend of my younger son has a parent who hunts and owns a gun.
EDIT I don't assume anyone has a gun. I am Canadian as well. (was iving in Toronto and now just north)
I would not be surprised if the majority of the people that I know have guns in their homes. To my knowledge, the gun owners that I know keep them under lock and key, unloaded. (As is the case in our home) I know and am related to quit

I just clicked the poll tab,
No I don't assume people have guns in their houses where we live now. That said would I ask if DD's going to someone's home if they have guns and if they are safely locked up in a gun safe? Absolutely.
I grew up around
I would not assume someone has a gun unless I know they are a hunter or a peace officer of some kind.
I would also not assume that those people have their guns locked up safely.

I wouldn't be offended by the question though. I'll tell anyone that it's properly stored in a biometric safe. I will not show anyone w
