s/o gun disclosure CLICKY POLL!!

I'm make the assumption that if you are going to someone house (whether it be playdate with kids, dinner, girls/guys night etc) you don't ask before you get there or as soon as you get there, "and is there a gun here!?" So if you were told there was/is a gun at a house (completely locked up and legit and all that) would you be surprised or do you assume people have guns?

ETA: "or do you assume ppl have guns?" to help my super scientific poll not be skewed. Also: sorry for the confusion.

Re: s/o gun disclosure CLICKY POLL!!

  • not sure how to figure out if this is a regional thing or what. I assume everyone has a gun. Everyone I know hunts.
  • My neighbor is a cop, so I know there is at least one in the house.  I also know that it is well locked when not on his person.

Other houses, I assume there isn't one.  That's probably quite naive of me.

  • I live in a major metropolitan area in California. Most of my friends are somewhere between moderately liberal and Dirty Hippies. Most of said friends would surprise me if they own a gun. I do have one friend who does, and I've gone to the shoot

  • I wouldn't be surprised at all.  I live in South.  People here are big on hunting.  We have guns and a big gun safe with a keypad combination lock and only DH & I know the combination.

  • Ok. I answered the poll based on the question in the opening paragraph: "So if you were told there was/is a gun at a house, would you be surprised?"

    My answer: "Um, NO."

Not the actual question of the poll, "Do you assume people have gun

Would this just come up in conversation?  Or would you just volunteer this information randomly.

  • I don't usually assume they do but I probably should.

I do not assume people have guns in their home, but I guess I should.

  • I have no friends or relatives who own a gun. As far as I know only one friend of my younger son has a parent who hunts and owns a gun.

EDIT  I don't assume anyone has a gun. I am Canadian as well. (was iving in Toronto and now just north)

  • I would not be surprised if the majority of the people that I know have guns in their homes. To my knowledge, the gun owners that I know keep them under lock and key, unloaded.  (As is the case in our home)  I know and am related to quit

How are you guys making clicky polls?! Does it take 50 attempts?

I just clicked the poll tab,

  • No I don't assume people have guns in their houses where we live now.  That said would I ask if DD's going to someone's home if they have guns and if they are safely locked up in a gun safe?  Absolutely.

  • I never really think about it. I probably will now. I think it probably is regional. And I only have one friend that hunts.
  • I would not assume someone has a gun unless I know they are a hunter or a peace officer of some kind.

I would also not assume that those people have their guns locked up safely.

  • We have one, so I assume other people do as well. I would not be put off if other parents asked me about it. Afterall, they just wonna make sure their kids are safe. If they ask to see the lock box, I will show it to them. If they ask to see the gun

  • I have never had anyone ask me if we own a gun and we've had plenty of company and kids come over through the years. I wouldn't be offended by the question though. I'll tell anyone that it's properly stored in a biometric safe. I will not show anyone w

  • I live in Texas. Although we do not personally own guns, I assume that here most people do.
  • Canadian, living close to Toronto. I would never assume someone did have a gun in their home and the only person I know for sure who does is my cousin who is a homicide detective. I'd be shocked for sure.
