Nail Salon Question..

Hi all, Wanted to get some opinions/advice on nail salons. I just recently took my acrylic nails off and wanted to get a manicure this weekend, I've heard mixed reviews on weather its okay for pregnant people to be in a nail salon with the fumes ect. I'm a first time Mom so I have no idea about this stuff and don't go back to the doctor for a few weeks to ask her opinion. Thanks mommies! xo

  • You could always give your OB a call to ask her. I personally wouldn't risk going to a nail salon. That's my personal preference though. I do a decent job with nails myself. Plus its a fun girl's night activity. =)

As long as it's well ventilated it shouldn't be a problem. Just be careful with pedicures. There are spots in your ankles (and shoulders) that can cause mc or pre term labor. My girlfriend is a Licensed Massage Therapist and was pretty adamant about it. I

  • I only go to salons that are very sanitary and well ventilated to begin with.  I've had a few pedicures between my two pregnancies with no problems.

As for the whole "don't massage the ankles" I seriously think that i

  • If you are really sensitive to the smells, just ask to be seated at the station that is closest to the door.
