My 4 week old is a pooping machine. We are using Mother-ease cloth diapers. She has a rash (nothing too serious yet) yesterday I tried to change her at least every hour...and I have over 13 poopy diapers from a 12 hour period. The large majority of them are tiny poops.
I am pretty sure the rash is from being in contact with the poop (versus my washing routine etc) since she is almost in constant contact with poop no matter how often I change her.
Any suggestion how to protect her bum? I am doing the obvious...I am trying to air her bum out a lot but this is hard as she is a projectile pooper and can clear a good 4 plus feet! I've been putting the diaper on really loose with no cover and putting her on towels. I also am using disposables at night with a really thick diaper cream to protect her bum during longer periods in diapers.
She was born 5 weeks early so I am hoping this is just a very immature intestine thing that improves with age.
Any suggestions? Any really good cloth diaper safe creams to use to protect her bum and clear up a rash? Right now I am using Zincofax and Panaten...but only in disposables as I am not sure they would be ok in the cloth.
