Babies: 3 - 6 Months

DS is a bottomless pit... how much is too much?

My DS turned three months old on 3/27, so he is about 14 weeks now. He is a BIG BOY at over 16 lbs. He drinks 6-6 oz bottles per day, so 36 oz total. The problem is that 9 times out of 10, when he is done with a bottle, he gets very upset like it's not enough and he doesn't want to be done eating. I don't really want to go over 36 oz in 24 hours, because that just seems like a lot already. Out of desperation, I began adding a small bit of rice cereal to 2 of the 6 bottles a couple of weeks ago (I know, I know, I started cereal earlier than recommended) and that has helped, but he still seems to want more. I don't want to overfeed him, but I worry that he is left feeling hungry a lot of the time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance!

  • I think like others have said every baby is different. Is he spitting up? Is your pediatrician concerned about his weight? If he's not spitting up after each bottle and your pediatrician isn't concerned with his weight then it's probably fine. Normally

  • My DD started taking 8oz bottles a little after 3 months. She would scream even after her burps she was very obviously hungry.  With 8oz she was eating four times a day, so 32oz. Our Pedi said we could start cereal at 3months due to her app

  • Thanks for the advice everyone! Good to know that they all fuss after eating, and that it probably isn't that I'm not feeding him enough. I have an 8yo son too, but it has been so long since he was little, I feel like I am learning some of this all over a
