Just diagnosed with PCOS

Today I just received progesterone test results from my OB and she confirmed that although I received a positive OPK I did not actually ovulate. I was really upset but at the same time relieved that we figured out why I can not get pregnant. Additionally being diagnosed with pcos explains my weight gain/inability to lose weight and the huge problem that I have with acne on my chin/jawline since coming off of birth control.

Tomorrow I will begin two 500mg doses of metformin. Has anyone had success losing weight with metformin and getting pregnant only on metformin? Please share some success stories! I really need these right now so I am not discouraged.

    Pretty much everyone on this board (with very few exceptions) has never been pregnant /had a successful pregnancy...we don't have success stories for you.  I'm sorry about your new dx, but TTGP may have more of what you're looking for.

    BFP #1: 2/15/12-Ectopic/Mtx at 6 wks
    BFP #2: 10/12/12-m/c at 5 wks. 
    BFP #3: 8/27/13
    Me: MTHFR, Low AMH (1.1), High NK cells and Antiphospholipid Antibodies.
    DH:MFI-Low morph (1%), DNA fragmentation: Excellent!
    5 rounds of clomid, 3 IUIs, and multiple non-medicated cycles- BFFN                                                      
    IVF with ICSI in August 2013 brought us our babies.  ER-9R, 7M, 4F w/ICSI  ET of 2-Grade 2 blasts. 
    + HPT at 6dp5dt. #1 (8dp5dt)- 105    #2 (13dp5dt)- 510  #3 (15dp5dt)- 960  #4 (17dp5dt)- 1889
    Dx shortened cervix, PTL, and preeclampsia during pregnancy.  Lots of medications and 13 weeks of bedrest, babies were born healthy at 34w4d!

    My PCOS diagnosis came from no periods, acne, and cysts on u/s.  Tried Clomid twice, then added Metformin with the Clomid for two cycles.. one ovulation, no pregnancy. 

    Like pp said, if we are on this board it is because we aren't pregn

    TTC since May 2011
    Provera x3 late 2011, no natural response. (Previous BCP for 12 years).
     Dx PCOS April 2012. 
    Clomid x 4 - no response.
    First FSH/Ovidrel cycle early Aug 2012 - 18 days of injections, slow growth, erratic estrogen levels, triggered Aug 21st. 
    BFP Sept 4th and Sept 7th! 
     7wk US Sept 28th - triplets! 
    Perfect triplets lost at 20 weeks due to incompetent cervix. Allison Grace, James Alexander and Colin Gregory forever in our hearts!  
    IVF #1 10/11/13 -  canceled before retrieval.  
    IVF# 2 11/28/13 - retrieval on Turkey Day! Hyperstim - no transfer
    FET #1 2/4/14 - miscarriage @ 9 weeks (Trisomy 6) 
    FET #2 6/8/14 - healthy normal baby! Due date 2/25/15

    Hey - I was Dx with PCOS 2 years ago, I tried the Met for a few months but it didn't work for me - I wasn't anymore regular and it made me terrible sick all the time.

    But - I've heard a lot of PCOS-ers have great results the Met as far as

    I was dx with PCOS about a year ago.  I do two 500 mg of metformin daily with dinner.  I have lost some weight but I think it was more due to changes in my diet and exercise since my PCOS dx.  I do zumba four times a week and try to eat

    DH's SA : Excellent

    Lap and Hysteroscopy June 2012

    DX: PCOS, Stage III Endo, slight Adenomyosis, blocked tube, and probable LPD

    Treatments:  6 Months Lupron Depot injections; 1500 mg metformin; 3 cycles of Clomid + TI = BFN

    3 endometrial biopsies all were "out of phase" 

    September - December, 2013:  Break to lose weight and get healthy

    40 lb weight loss but still not ovulating "in phase"  

    February - March 2014: bcps + follistim + trigger + TI = BFP

     Beta #1 (12dpo): 30; Beta #2 (18dpo): 500; Beta #3 (25dpo): 7,000!!! 

    1st u/s 4/16: One beautiful hb at 144 bmp 

    2nd u/s 4/29: hb at 166 bmp.  Graduated from RE!!

    Hi and welcome!

    I was diagnosed with PCOS in July of 2012. I also take metformin 1500mg a day. I haven't really lost any weight except maybe 10lbs in I first started the med.

     

    Me 32/DH 38
    TTC since 05/2011
    HSG 07/2011 right tube blocked
    Clomid 50mg 3/2012 - no response
    Clomid 50mg 4/2012 - no response
    Met with RE 6/2012
    PCOS/IR diagnosed 6/2012
    Femura 5mg  9/2012 - no response
    Laparoscopy 12/2012 close off right tube
    Clomid 150mg 3/2013 - no response
    1st Follistim Cycle 7/16/2013 -  CD3-6 125iu; CD7-8 150iu; CD9-15 175iu; Trigger 8/1; IUI scheduled for 8/3/2013...BFN AF arrived 8-16-2013
    8/2013 cycle benched for cyst
