Cars SUCK

So we recently took away DD's pacifier (which she only used in the car and for sleep).  She has had no problem with sleeping without it...but in the car it's a whole different story.  She used to be content in the car (with the pacifier) but now she just wails the. entire. car. ride. no. matter. what.  It's driving me crazy.  Even if I am sitting back there with her...she's just a screaming mess.

And add to that...she's now all of a sudden getting carsick (this actually started BEFORE we took away the pacifier).  I'm talking full-on vomitting.  She's still rear-facing because she's 32 pounds, but I don't want to turn her around until she's 40 lbs.

Any recommendations for either issue?  Thanks!!

  • Sorry your going through this.  If you're not ready to turn her then maybe you could give her something to replace the pacifier.  Does she have a stuffed animal, lovey or a blanket that makes her feel secure?  Maybe giving her something

Knowing myself, I'd probably cave and let her have the paci in the car, especially if she doesn't need/want it during naps an

  • I would probably give back the paci, just for the car ride. I tend to get really panicky when the kids are crying in the car, and turning FF early isn't an option for me either.

  • We took away DS's paci in the car recently and we give him another plastic toy that he can chew on or manipulate to make noise (specifically it's a little shaker toy dealy that came in a musical instrument set of toys). It stays in the car and the

  • Oh, I'm so sorry.  I was a car sick baby back when we didn't even have to sit in a seat or be buckled.  It was awful.  I puked a lot.  My folks gave me Benedryl for longer trips.  That stunk as I'd be sleepy for ages even after

  • Try giving her a snack trap in the car? Or a toy?
I've also heard you can cut the tip of the binky off and eery week cut a tiny bit more off. Pretty soon they don't even want it anymore.
