Intro and hello

Well I figure I have been stalking you all on here enough and I might as well introduce myself.

My husband and I have been TTC for about two years(Since about Jan 2011). When nothing was happening and I was getting anxious and although he kept telling me to be patient I decided to do some blood work. As I work in a hospital lab I decided to have my blood drawn and run my LH, FSH and Estrodiol to see if I was really freaking out for nothing or if I had cause for concern. Well my FSH was 11.3 so I knew I wasn't crazy went to my primary who told me I should make an appointment with a RE after the first of the year (this was in Oct 2012). Met with the RE and I really like her and we began the barrage of other testing. We repeated my hormones, did the US, HSG and semen analysis. Side note there is nothing better in this world then bringing a cup of your DH's semen into the laboratory that you work in for analysis. Turns out that DOR was no our only problem and my DH's SA showed only 3% normal forms. Number was good, motility good. So based on the SA and DOR my doc is not overly optimistic about IUI. Says it can't hurt but not high on the list for success and says we will probably end up at IVF. Great cause I am rolling in the $$ really. Anyway just wanted to say hello and pose one question:

If IUI has such a low chance would you give a couple rounds a try or move straight on to IVF??

Insurance will cover IUI but not IVF.

5/28/13- IUI #1 50 mg Clomid BFN
6/25/13 IUI #2 50 mg Clomid BFN
7/27/13 IUI#3 50 mg Clomid BFN
8/8/13 waiting to meet with the RE to discus IVF
11/9/2013 IVF#1 canceled, only 1 follicle  :(
12/26/2013 Starting Lupron for IVF#2
1/21/2014 Retrieval but we still only had 1 follicle so only 1 egg. Fingers Crossed!!!
2/5/2014 BFP!! Betas 39, 54, 217, 1681 Slow rising but this is the little egg that could :)
2/19/2014 1st U/S at 6w1d showed us at 5w4d but yolk sac, gest. sac and the beginnings of a fetal pole identified. 
2/26/2014 2nd U/S at 7w1d showed us at 6w4d and we saw a heartbeat!!! 133. RE says it's time to move to OB
So far everything is looking good :)
5/29/2014 It's a Girl!!!! :)
7/6/2014 Failed my glucose tolerance tests, diabetic diet it is
9/30/2014 Scheduled C-Section for Placenta Previa and she's perfect

    Welcome! I would absolutely try a few IUIs first if they are covered by insurance. Also ask your RE about supplements for your DH. Lots of girls here have their hubby's on Fertility Blend for men and CoQ10 if they have MFI. (buy them on amazon for cheaper

    Hi and welcome! I can only speak to the MFI part of it since we deal with that too.  I would probably give a couple IUIs a chance since they are covered.  If he has high counts/motility, you might get some decent post-wash numbers.  We have
    TTC #1 since Sept 2011
    Me: 33, DH: 35, DX: PCOS & MFI (low everything)
    IUI #1-3 - Low Post-Wash Counts - All BFNs
    IVF #1 w/ ICSI: Long Lupron Protocol - Freeze-All Cycle due to Severe OHSS
    ER 4/27, 33 Eggs Retrieved, 13 Frosties
    FET #1 6/5, Transferred One Perfect 4AA Blast, HPT BFP @ 6dp5dt
    Beta #1 - 209, Beta #2 - 508, Beta #3 - 1,059

    Welcome and good luck. If it was me, I would do the IUIs first. See how the post wash numbers are and give it a shot.



    Me: 32 DH: 31.
    B/W: good. SA: good.
    November 2012: Paratubal cyst found during U/S.
    January 10, 2013: Lap removed paratubal cyst and Stage 2 Endometriosis. 
    3 cycles of Femara + TI = BFNs

    June 2013: Femara 2.5 mg, Gonal F Injects 37.5 IU, Menopur, trigger + IUI = BFN

    July 2013: Femara 2.5 mg, Gonal F Injects 75 IU, Menopur, trigger + IUI = BFP!!!!

    Beta 1 @ 11 DPIUI = 76. Progesterone = 27.3

    BFP 8/16/2013 // EDD 4/28/2014

    Jordan Samuel born April 19, 2014. 6 lb, 12 oz and 18 inches long.

    Hi and Welcome! I would definitely start with the IUI's its less expensive and may do the trick! Also, ask your RE about vitamins to help with sperm production.

    Welcome!!! From what I have read multiple rounds of IUI has a decent success rates, but I know DOR can change a lot of factors.  DH and I are skipping IUI (due to multiple factors, the main one being my blocked tubes) and moving on to IVF, but I thin

    Hello and welcome!! I would definitely start with a couple IUIs before going to IVF especially if they are covered by your insurance!! Good luck to you

     IUI #1-#4 BFNs and a few cancelled cycles in the mix.

    Thanks everyone! I forgot to mention that DH is taking Male Fertility vitamins. We were thinking of going with the IUI first I just wanted to make sure that sounded like a good plan. I am not looking forward to going on the Clomid but hey if that's what i
