Babies: 9 - 12 Months

sleep help...again and slighty desperate!

i feel like a broken record!  i've come to this board for help before, so hopefully you can all help again!

DD will be 9 months next week and weighs somewhere around 20ish pounds. She has never STTN, and only a handful of times have woken up once (last week she did that 3 nights in a row...it was amazing!). Last night she woke 4x and i have instilled the habit of having to nurse her back to sleep. She goes down at night awake, and is able to fall asleep.

I have done sleep training in the past, and have gotten down to a 2-3am feeding. But slowly that feeding time keeps moving up until she is waking at 12 and 4, and then 10, 12, 4, etc.  Simply said, I am done.  I am beyond exhausted and I have to get up at 5:30 everyday and work 40 hours a week.

I'm not even sure where to start. I did Ferber with my first child, and it was fantastic!  But I am not sure how to wean out all of these nursing sessions without confusing her.  Should I go cold turkey and just let her CIO with checks until 6am and hope she picks up on it?  Help!  please :)

  • Not sure if this is helpful or not, but you are definitely not alone!  My son isn't sleeping through the night either (he is 9 1/2 months).  He wakes up 3+ times a night still.  I've been FF since 4 months and I was finally able to cut out

  • No do not go cold turkey from feeding her multiple times a night to nothing and no responses. Even Ferber says it is cruel to do this. Since you did Ferber with your first do you have the book? There is a chapter on night feeding and how to phas

  • You're not alone. I have a 9 month old who still does not sleep through the night. He's also teething so I take that into consideration. But I have not figured out how to get rid of the middle of the night feedings and I do work full time. Coffee has beco
  • I know your pain! I am so sorry and I know the exhaustion you feel.  My Lo is 11 months old now, but at 8 months I had had enough.  I was still nursing then and I cut it down to twice a night first.  I made a pact not to get up with her bf

  • I tried a lot of different books/methods for helping my LO sleep. He had a hard time going to sleep on his own.

We're down to one MOTN feeding and he goes to sleep with minimal fussing at bedtime and for naps.
