I came out of lurking yesterday so hello again. We had our 9 month appointment yesterday. Everything was fine except his weight. He has fallen from the 50th percentile (this was at 2 months) and is now in less than the 5th percentile. He gained less than a pound in the last 3 months.
Dr is a little concered about his lack of weight gain, especially dropping so much in percentages. He would like us to get more calories in DS. This is where I need some help. He would like him eating a bit more solids (he only eats between 2-4 oz a day). What solids does your LO eat that they like? Also do you do yogurt yet? We have been trying table food a little as well but he doesn't seem to care too much for that either.
He would also like him getting a bit more milk. I EBF and DS nurses 3x a day and gets 3 bottles (5 oz) at daycare. So my question is do I go to 3 (6 oz) bottles or do I go to 4 (4.5 oz) bottles. In going the more milk route we will have to start supplementing formula since I do not pump that much and my freezer stash is starting to dwindle.
I should also mention that we have been dealing with chronic ear infections for the last 4 months. I think this has affected his nursing sessions since I know his ears bother him quite a bit. He gets tubes on Friday so we are hoping that once he gets feeling better things will start to improve. Kudos to making it to the end. Any advice is much appreciated.
Re: 9 month checkup (long)
I agree with PPs to do the 4.5 oz bottles 4X a day and to offer more calorie rich foods like avocado and yogurts. I EBF and feed LO every 3 hours. She gets @ 4-5 oz each feeding at DC. My LO has been slipping down on the growth curve
