Babies on the Brain

Dizzy, gas, nausea, light "period"....negative hpt

My husband and I are trying for another baby...my little girl is 19months old and she is amazing! We're so excited. Ive had crazy symptoms the last couple weeks, and I think I might be preg again hope so!. But it could be just nerves. Here's what's happening: I went off my BC pills about six weeks ago, i immediately got one period, the next month i got what I thought was another period a week late, and very very light so I thought I was not preg. Took an hpt but it was neg. However, I have had crazy amounts of gas for the last few weeks, with a major increase today, also, as of today, accompanied by all day dizzyness and nausea / food adversion. Also I feel warm all the time im usually always cold/ im borderline anemic..took iron supplements during last pregnancy. What the heck could be going on? Would love to hear some feedback.

My very light and short "period" ended on fri. Probably too soon for an hpt test to be accurate, right?

I should add that this could be a physical reaction to stress/anticipation...I have a big work project coming up. It's exciting, but it's also nerve wracking. I've had physical reactions to stress in the past, so maybe that's what this is?

  • It can take up to a year (or even longer for some women) for your cycles to regulate after coming off BCP. If you're pregnant enough for symptoms, you're pregnant enough to get a positive HPT.

    Good luck!

  • Lots of influenza and illnesses going around that can cause the symptoms you are having.

  • If you're having pregnancy symptoms you're definitely able to turn an hpt +.  If you got a negative hpt, you're not pregnant right now.  I would say that your lighter period is a result of having come off bcp relatively recently.  Good luck
  • Illness can cause those same symptoms and you got a period so I'm thinking you're not pregnant.

  • Read up on adding probiotics to your diet. My husband had the same symptoms and this has really helped him. His favorite is Good Belly juice.
