if you could...

donate $100,000 to any charity--

1. which charity would it be?

2. why them?

Re: if you could...

  • I would donate it to Camp Kemo, a local camp for children with cancer and their siblings.

This is a wonderful program that does so much for these kids and their families.

  • Make a Wish - because its a truly amazing organization.

My cousin recently died from MD, he was only 21 years old and had been in a wheelchair since he was 7.  Make a Wish did so much for him and his family, I will forever be grateful.

  • Sickle Cell Disease Association of America

I have watched my goddaughter suffer from sickle cell disease since birth for the last 4.5 years and it breaks my heart to see my precious little girl in so much pain so often.

  • Curesearch.  It helps develop cures for childhood cancer.  Childhood cancer research is SO unfunded and any little bit can and will help.

  • Oxfam America.  I used to work in international development.

  • Our local soup kitchen or food pantry.  They only get local donations whereas the illness (cancer, ms, diabetes, etc) charities also get national funds.
  • Wisconsin Donor Network.

THey coordinated the donation of my mom's organs when she died. They are wonderful and compassionate people.

  • American Cancer Society.

When my brother had cancer at 23 and no insurance, they helped him tremendously.  Three seperate chemo runs and a bone marrow transplant, which was literally hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  • Hopeful- that's what I was thinking, I'd donate to a local charity.

Wow- these are good answers... good to know there are charities that people know and appreciate.

No one has mentioned United Way though... (or did I read over it?)

  • St Jude Children's Hospital, Make-A-Wish, The Ronald McDonald House plus our local battered women & children shelter.
