Finn Major! 3/21/13... 8 days overdue

I just love reading everyone's birth stories! Here's ours:

we were sent in for an induction at 10:30 on 3/20, they wanted to place a foley bulb first, then see about pitocin in the morning.  Well, my doc had a really hard time trying to get that in, and it was very painful while she was doing this.  She then decided to try cervadil and warned me it could take a while.  Well, by 4:00 a.m, I was having back to back contractions, not terribly painful, but I didn't sleep at all the whole night.  They finally took it out around 8:00 and told me they might start pitocin on me, depending on my exam.  I told the nurse I was beginning to get uncomfortable, bc I barely had a break in between contractions, so i wantedc my epidural. she looked at me like I was a baby.  Well, sure enough, I was 4-5 cm and 90%, so they ordered it for me.

My doc then broke my water, and pretty soon I could feel every contraction on my left side in my back.  It hurt, but not as bad as I thought.  My nurse and doc didn't want me to have to feel these intense contractions, so they called  the anesthesiologist and he basically told me there wasn't much he could do, but he would try to pull it back a bit, still no relief.  Another anesthesiologist came, took it out and gave me a new one... So much better, no pain! But, now I was 8 cm and 100%, so I didn't get to rest very long before I was complete.

at 5:30 p.m. I started pushing.  My doc was concerned bc I was still high and she told me she would give me an hour pushing, then if there was no change, I would have a c-section.  Like most women, not what I wanted to hear, I obviously wanted a vaginal delivery, but after an hour, the baby still wasn't coming down, so off to the OR we went.  Everything happened really fast at this point and I was exhausted! Team green turned team blue at 7:10, when my beautiful baby boy was born, 8 lbs, 11 oz! He screamed right away and that was the best moment of my life!

turns out I have an odd shaped pelvis and I wouldn't have been able to push any size baby out. The section was not nearly as bad as I thought, sure recovery is a bit slower, but every day gets easier.  Finn breast feeds like a champ and my husband and I are so in love! Overall a great experience!
