Overwhelmeding MFM appt

This is gonna get long : Yesterday I had my first MFM appt... what a crazy overload of info. I'm a FTM who TTC for nearly 4yrs, I have lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

Yesterday we learned about all of the potential complications that lupus can have on me during this pregnancy and our LO. I'm fully confident in both of my doctors and will be getting blood drawn today to rule out and a baseline to watch for different things. Starting at 32w I will have 2 NSTs a week, at 37w they will start the work up to look at inducing... amnio ect. I'll deliver somewhere between 3739w. Kinda cemented that I am high risk...

Not really a point but wondering if ANYONE else is a semisimilar boat???

  • I had no idea lupus made such an impact on pregnancy. What sorts of things does it affect? I have multiple sclerosis, so I can relate on a chronic illness front, but most of the pregnancy related complications come after delivery.

  • Yes and no. I'm also an IFer, though we went straight for FET with this one so over all #2 took about 6 months as opposed to the 2 yrs for DS. Because it is still IVF w/ ICSI, that deems me higher risk for heart defects (but that really doesn't worry m

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • Although i do not have your conditions I am an IVFer also...and I am also considered very high risk because of my age, GD im not even yet, treating for it already and high blood pressure. They also consider my high risk b/c I am a FTM and only 5'0 carryi
  • I have lupus as well, had a stroke at 19, hips were replaced both by 21 due to prednisone overload, there's a ton of other crap but despite that I've had two healthy pregnancies and so far this one is going great.

  • You're not alone. I am high risk for different reasons, but go through the same monitoring protocol as you. I did the same with DS a year ago. I was induced at 37 weeks and ended up with a csection. This time around I'm trying for a VBAC. Hang in there, i
