2 weeks ago I went in for my 20 week a/s. The ultrasound tech saw that my babies hands, feet and shins were full of fluid and very puffy. My Dr. told me she wasn't sure what was the matter and referred me to a high-risk dr a week out. 7 days is a VERY long time to know nothing!! So of course I made sure my referral was in and got an appt last Monday. The high-risk Dr also saw that she was puffy in the feet, hands and shins. However, she said there is possibly some fluid on the rest of her body they just can't tell. She offered the MaterniT21 test and I'm now waiting for results b/c she feels the baby could have downs or some type of choromosome abnormality. My first born had no complications and I'm a little distraught that there is something wrong with this one. Has anyone heard of the baby having fluid on the hands and feet? She doesn't have it on her heart or brain.
