RSV

I thought we were out of the woods being so late in the winter season, but I was wrong. DS has been coughing since Monday night and I took him in Wednesday morning. We have a small town clinic that obviously can't handle DS because they wanted him transferred to the children's hospital by ambulance. I wanted to drive him because I know I can handle whatever happens. He ended up taking helicopter.

They thought it was pneumonia because his X-ray looked poor, but it's RSV and honestly I don't think it's that bad. I can be laid back, but I know when something is seriously wrong. I'm glad we are here, but I'm frustrated with how our medical facility in my town handles things. I am strongly considering finding a pediatrician in the same town as the children's hospital (1.5 hours away) because this transfer bs ticks me off.

DS is doing great though. His nose needs to be sucked out frequently but the plan is to watch him today and go home tomorrow. Hope your LO's all stay healthy!

Re: RSV

  • So sorry to hear about such a frustrating and probably scary experience!  I would be really frustrated with the clinic too.  As to your being "laid back" I feel like you know your son best so if you don't feel the need to panic like it seems the

  • Sorry your little man is dealing with this. Last year at this time our DS was in the hospital with RSV. He spent 6 days there. The hospital is the best place for him, though. Even if he doesn't look bad, they can turn for the worse quickly. Hope everythin

  • Helicopter - REALLY!?!? Yea - it's almost to the point that you're better off just driving here even if something turns out to be minor!! One helicopter flight on LifeLinkIII or North's chopper and your gas is paid for multiple years in the OOP costs...
