BNB changed me!

I never gave much thought to uniquely spelled names except the really extreme ones, surnames as first names or if popularity would affect my children's names. Now that I lurk a lot on this board, I cringe at almost any deviation from the original spelling, boy names on girls any many other things.

Did your opinions change after reading this name board?

Re: BNB changed me!

  • Yes, my naming style has changed a bit since being on this board.
  • My opinions did not change much. I'm more aware (and suspicious) of trends. The thing I really like about this board is that I'm not the only name obsessed person running around out there. I've always loved and obsessed over names. It's great to see that

  • Actually, I agree with Keri and Joy. I have a much more realistic perspective on what names are unique and what are popular, and I think I am actually more open minded about names that are NMS but have nice history or tradition behind them.

  • I am usually opposite opinion of most people on this board. When the general consensus lines it, I don't. Names I really like, most don't. This is fairly consistent, so I like to think I've stayed true my opinions and haven't really been swayed.
  • I don't think my opinion has changed but I am poka my more openly judge mental of names in general.

  • My naming style has changed a bit since hanging around here but I think it's more that I've been exposed to so many more names that I never would have thought of/considered before.  I just liked names that I heard in my social circle and didn't reall
  • My naming style has not really changed. I've always liked a variety of names. I have picked up a few that I might not have thought of alone.

I'm mainly happy that this is a decent group of people that share my crazy obsession with names.

  • Mine have changed a lot. I didn't get on here or look at the SSA list of names when I named my DS. I just picked a first name I really liked and his middle names are family names that have both been passed on forever. One from my side the other from DH
