I am a hobbyist photographer who has been asked by a non-profit that works with my non-profit day job folks to take pics at a conference they are hosting in a month. I have NO IDEA what to charge.
I'd say I'm a hobbyist. I've photo assisted on a few weddings, and shot several events for the non-profit I work for just for fun. I've also party party & portfolio pics for my partner who has a tattoo shop. I have taken party/event pics in my own life for years and love it but have no desire to work as a pro photographer.
I want to do this event because it's a really good cause and I would really enjoy it. My style is sort of "photo-journalism" and I'm great at getting unobtrusive action shots in crappy lighting. I have a good camera and flash but I'd probably rent a second camera and a fast telephoto lens.
Where do I start figuring out how much to charge?? They specifically said they are "not looking for a bargain" but obviously I want to be fair and charge a reasonable amount based on my skills.
