We are TRYING to move to a larger place but in the horrible real estate market that is Boston, but it's not looking good. Currently we do a nanny share for DS#2 but that is likely ending in the fall. I want to call up DS#1's pre school and ask them how far in advance we should reserve a spot in the older toddler room for DS#2, but I assume they'll say "well, you can reserve a space right now" and I sort of need to say "well, the thing is, we are trying to move." The deposit is non-refundable, so I would rather not pay it if we do wind up moving. There's no way that would threaten DS #1's spot or anything, is there? I don't know why I'm feeling leery about telling them we might be moving.
Re: Any issues with letting daycare know we *might* be leaving (but, we might not)
Well, I doubt they would hold a spot for #2 without the deposit, so there really is no point in telling them. I would wait until you find a house you like and are moving forward with putting in an offer. There is typically a decent window o
I know this seems like a dumb question (even to me and I'm asking it!) the issue is we may - or may not - live close enough to use this school going forward, but regardless we WILL need a spot somewhere for DS#2 in the fall.I don't want to lose a depos
Oh yeah I know what you're getting at.
As one of the PP's said, just ask them what the waitlist will be for #2's age group b/c you are considering starting him in day care instead of having him with a nanny.
That will give you an id
I understand about not wanting to lose the deposit, but like a PP said, they're not going to hold a spot open for DS #2 without the deposit. You might have to make your peace with possibly losing that deposit in order to have peace-of-mind in get
