My midwife today mentioned that she thought the baby was a bit bigger (though she was still very supportive of the whole natural delivery). I told her I didn't want to hear how big she thought the baby would be, figuring it would just freak me out, and make me feel like I can't do it, when I know my body is perfectly capable. However, that doesn't mean I don't want to go in unprepared. Does anyone have any recommendations for laboring/pushing out a larger baby? Any tips would be most appreciated.
My midwife is estimating that if I go to my due date (40w 5 d) 4/5, LO will be close to 9 pounds. But she had that look of, "ehh, it will be a big baby, so what." Like it isn't a big deal. Her head can't get much larger, nor her shoulders really so wha
My biggest baby was my fastest delivery. He was 10 lb 7 oz and labor was only 6 hours start to finish. I think what PP said about the head size is true. Most likely, just because it's a big baby doesn't mean it has a huge head. Eve
My first and only baby was 8lbs 13oz with a 14" head. Everything was fine. I had a successful and uneventful homebirth. I had a small tear but if I had stretched my pushes out to 8 or 10 instead of only 5 or 6 I might not have torn at all.
I stayed upright as long as possible with DS2 (he was a little over 10.5 lbs), thought I ended up pushing in a reclining position. I pushed for about two hours with him, and ended up with a second degree tear.
Just believe in yourself, and think positive. My first was 6lb. 11oz, and my second was 8lb, 7oz. My second birth was far, far easier. So, size isn't everything! You can do it. Also, just wanted to add that the day I gave birth to
I've only had one and he was 8lbs 13oz, I think you just do whats you'd do for a smaller baby.
One thing I will say, when I was pushing I started to think that everyone had been lying to me the whole time and that babies don't fit through vaginas
I agree there's not really anything you do differently. Laboring in different positions is great for any size baby. Both of mine had huge 99th percentile heads. Callum was only 8lb6oz but Eleanor was 10 pounds. I honestly didn't be
I've heard bigger babies can be easier because they have less room to move around into the wrong position. My aunt gave birth at home to a 10lb-er and said he was the easiest to push out
Honestly, I'm in the camp where I don't believe "measurements" until the baby is born and we see. I had more than one friend get a c-section because they were having "babies that are too big". Both were in the 7-pound range when they were s

DD1 was 9lbs and DD2 was 10lbs 2oz. Both labours were straight forward and issue free.
For DD1 I had a growth scan because I was measuring large. My MW said before the scan, "It won't change how we approach things or what we do, but it can be nic
DD was 9 lbs even and had a huge head 97 percentile. I did a lot of pelvic rocks during pregnancy and labored in the tub on all fours. She came out in perfect position. I delivered on my back, but at the time didn't think to try and deliver on all fours.
DS2 was 9lbs and DS1 was 7lbs 11 oz. The only difference was that DS2 was face up, rather than down, so it was much more painful. Otherwise, I don't think his weight mattered too much. Labor w/ DS1 was 6 hours and I had a 3rd degree tear
My first was 8lb 12oz, no problems pushing him out all natural and medfree due to size, although I required an episiotomy because he was faced the wrong way with a hand coming through with on his face... It was also a relatively quick labor and birth!
