ruh roh.. think I've spoiled her

i'm starting to not be able to put my dd down without her crying. She's fed, clean etc. Do I just let her cry? She's only 3 1/2 months. The very second I put her down she cries, and instantly is happy again when I pick her up. Tongue Tied

  • No. You don't let her cry.

  • Sometimes they just have days where they want nothing more than to be held. DD had a day like that yesterday, but today she is content in her bouncy. Dont worry, she isnt spoiled..just loved.
  • I agree, don't let her cry- pick her up console her, and try putting her down again.

  • she's crying because she needs something -- even if it's just the security of being held.
  • Get a sling and shush.

  • I haven't let her cry just for the record.. guess i'll just keep holding her then. When do you know when it's time to stop constantly holding them though?? my dh has been pressuring me to stop "spoiling her" before bad habits are formed

  • Cuddle her and enjoy it!  Order pizza tonight if you have to. You didn't spoil your 3mth old by holding her.  That pisses me off.
  • Get a Bjorn, a sling, whatever- they're only little and wanting to be held for so long.  I highly doubt once she is mobile she'll want to be held all the time!  You're NOT spoiling her, ignore your DH.  ;)

  • You are not spoiling her. Savor every minute. DS is crawling and likes to be on the move and I miss him wanting to be held and cuddled. There are some days that he still wants me to do nothing but hold him and I love that.
  • My DD suddenly got really clingy at about 3 months.  She always wanted to be held, but always so she could look around.  She never cared who was holding her & never wanted to cuddle.  One day I woke up & all she wanted was me, and she suddenly got more cuddly.  She slowly became that way with DH too.  IMHO I would hold her & enjoy it.  I know it's difficult to get anything done that way, but I have to remind myself that there are more important things in life than clean laundry.  I'm a type A, and perhaps my DD is here to show me how to "savor the moment"...maybe you should too!
