Swing to Crib Transition ... Tired Mama Needs Help!

Hi Ladies, I am tired and defeated so I'm coming to you for help!  My son started off sleeping in the Rock n Play ... he slept great there, and started sleeping through the night at around 8 weeks.  When the recall happened, I found mold in ours and scrubbed it ... couldn't get the bleach smell out so I moved him to the snugabunny swing, since it's essentially the same thing.  He has slept in the swing (with the swing off) since mid-January.  Around early February, I started trying to transition him to the crib, but it was a disaster. He was up constantly, just absolutely hated it. He also seemed to be going through a wicked growth spurt so I forgot about the crib for awhile and we stuck with the swing. However, he stopped sleeping through the night and for a couple of months now has been waking every 2-3 hours to nurse.

Well, here we are at 5 months old now, and he still sleeps in the swing. I've been trying to transition him to the crib in earnest, but it seems like things are only getting worse. He always went down without a problem ... but tonight it took me over two hours to get him to sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions for making this transition easier on both of us? I'm a working, nursing mama, and I'm just exhausted and thisclose to tears at any given point.

  • Naps in the crib for sure. Sounds like you both need a break fom the crib for awhile. Make sure you have a consistent bedtime and routine so LO knows what to expect. Start the next round on a do nothing weekend, so you aren't stressed about being tired

  • I have no advice but we are in almost the exact same boat! I actually switched DD from the swing to the rock and play because I found DD flipped over face down and hanging off the edge while swaddled and it scared the crap out of me. The rock and play is
