"90-minute sleep solution" ?

So I haven't read this book, but I read ABOUT it after I noticed on my own that DD has a pretty obvious 90-minute period of being happy and awake between naps...

?

My question is, for anyone who has read the book, is there a certain age range this is supposed to apply to? How does this work as they get older and move from three naps a day to two, to one, etc.? Clearly this is not how preschoolers operate. I'm sure I'll figure this out on my own for my own child, but I was just curious what the theory is.

Re: "90-minute sleep solution" ?

  • My interpretation of the book is that even as they grow older they still have the 90 minute pattern, it just doesn't always result in sleep... For example, after 90 minutes DD may just seem a little bit more relaxed or "drained" then he/she will rev up for another 90 minute wake cycle.  I guess you're supposed to think of the 90 minute cycles as being able to be combined.  So DD may be awake for 90 minutes, 3 hours, 4 1/2 hours, etc.  But at the end of one of those cycles, they will probably be ready to nap and you need to figure out which combined cycle it is.

I think it makes sense and I usually notice it on DD.  I wouldn't buy the book though - get it from the library if you want to read it.

  • Ahhh, okay, that makes more sense to me. Thanks :)
