What was your favorite birthday party you had as a child and/or as an adult?
The parties I loved the most as a child were the ones my mom did at home. She worked, was a single mom for years and was very busy, but she always made my birthday great!
As an adult, I would say my 25th birthday was pretty awesome, since we got married that day. But, on my 30th birthday, DH hosted a party at our favorite French bistro on the back patio by the boule court. It was us and 30 friends. Pretty awesome!
Re: So what was YOUR favorite birthday party?
My 13th was a big hawaiian themed party! My parents told me I could have one big birthday and I chose 13 over 16 because I didn't want to wait! Most of my birthdays involved about 4-6 friends, I was a summer baby and no one was ever around.
My husband's 25th was my favorite though. I planned a bourbon + beards surprise party for him and it was awesome.
That's pretty cool you got married on your birthday.
I think my favorite party may have been when I was turning 5 (I only remember seeing the pictures, not the actual party). My mom made my Barbie cake, you know, the one where there's a real naked Barbie, and the cake is the dress. My mom did a great job on it.
My other favorite one would probably be my 16th. My grandma bought me a trip to CA (we went on my Spring Break).
I didn't really have many parties because my birthday usually falls in the week of Thanksgiving (this year it's on Thanksgiving; people get to be thankful for me this year haha).
My sister's and my bdays are 4 days apart, so we always had huge fun parties growing up (40ish kids + parents); we had a big garden so we always had them at home, they were fun
For my 30th I had a mexican themed party, my BIL (that owns a mexican restaurant) made the food and my sister kept making margaritas all night long, it was great and our friends still talk about it
When I was younger: SKATELAND!!! Roller skating parties rocked. I wish I could have one now.
As an adult: Probably my 30th. I was home visiting from California and my friends got everyone together for dinner at my favorite restaurant and then drinks at this cool bar afterward.
I know two people who had skate parties for their 40th!! They were so much fun!!
I enjoyed parties at home as a kid. My favorite was a slumber party with just a few close friends.
In general though I always preferred parties with smaller groups because we got to do more that way. You know like dinner & roller skating with 5 friends or a huge party just at a park. I always chose a few close friends and fun activity.
As an adult my favorite birthday party was last year my 24th because we took a day trip to Chicago. It was a babymoon & birthday trip all in one. Loved it!
I am going to request this for my 40th.
I just wish the neighborhood around the Skateland hadn't gone so far downhill since I was a kid. People get stabbed in there semi-regularly now. That would be a terrible party.
Mine was my 8th birthday. It was just at my house. We had a dance contest to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" which I still have on VHS to this day.
As a child, I always enjoyed the "at home" birthday parties with a few friends over having the party somewhere.
As an adult, my 30th with DH and a group of friends, overnight, at a casino was a blast!

I grew up in the Valley and had my 6th birthday at Skateland! Small world! It really has gone down hill...
My mom always went above and beyound for birthday's and that's why they are now a big deal for me for my kids. I had great birthday's.
One favorite was a sleepover for my 8th or 9th at our home. My mom had everyone bring their Teddy Bears and we did a Teddy Bear contest and voted on each others bears and each bear got a special ribbon pin for what they won ie cutest, funny looking, softest etc. It was such a cute party and I had about 6-8 friends sleep over.
For my 12th my Mom rented a suite at a local hotel. Im a December baby. and It was the coolest room and my girlfriends got to come spend the night and we went out to dinner and swam in the big jacuzzi hot tube in the middle of the room. So much fun!
