Does your little one have a rocking chair?

My mom wants to get our LO a rocking chair for her first birthday but we are wondering if its a good idea. I think it will be one of those things that is a waste of money, never used and just taking up room.

Do any of you have one? What are your thoughts?

    We have one. My MIL bought it for my LO before she was born. However, she has yet to use it. She can't hold her balance well enough to really sit in it right now (it rocks forward and she falls off) and it's not very comfortable.

    My daughter loves hers. But beware it is something she uses to climb on to get the things she wants but are too high for her.

    We've got an heirloom one that belonged to my mother when she was a baby.  DD hasn't used it yet.  I expect she will be closer to 18m-2 years before she can.

    What about a rocking horse?

    Not a rocking chair but both of my kids got PBK anywhere chairs for their 1st birthdays.

    Oh and DS loves his. He sits in it to read books and watch TV. He still uses it at 3.5 which is why DD is getting one for her birthday too.

    Not a rocking chair, but we got DD an upholstered chair for Christmas.  She loves it, sits in it all the time and uses it to climb on to the couch.

    My DS (almost 2.5y) has an upholstered chair that rocks at our house and an old wooden rocking chair (it was mine) at Grandma's house.  He loves both of them.  

    We'll probably get another upholstered chair for DD b/c otherwise I know th

    Ugh, DS received one for Christmas. It is currently sitting in my garage bc he is too small for it right now. Even when he is bigger I don't want it taking up space in my house. I silently swear at the damn thing every time I walk past it. Now the person

    DS has my old rocking chair from when I was a kid. It needs a little work, but he has one. And this one has a little music box on the back so when you rock it plays music. I have lots of great memories in that chair.....

    Our vibrating chair converted into a rocking chair that DD1 used a LOT.  We also have the beautiful wooden rocking chair that was mine when I was little.  We also have an ugly plastic rocking chair that is on our deck and another one at
