Teeth brushing tips?

We have an awesome bedtime routine that is really working for us. The one part that is tough is when it's time to brush LOs teeth.

Here's what we do. My husband holds him in his lap, the leans him back onto mine. DS head rests on a pillow on my lap. DH holds DS hands to his chest and I try to brush DS teeth. At this point, DS is shaking his head, red and pissed. I brush them as quickly as I can. His lips are so tight that I can barely get my finger let lone the toothbrush. Once it's done, we give water and he settles down. Sometimes he plays with he toothbrush (supervised). We read. Book or two and he falls asleep with no fuss.

Does anyone have any tips to make this less awful? As FTM parents we would love some tips!

    That picture is so cute!

I'm using the NUk brush ( the blue rubber that goes on my Niger). He doesn't like it at first but loves it after a few seconds, maybe is the flavor or the fact that I massage his sore gums.

Im a FTM too so no
