I am kind of annoyed at my parents. They booked a vacation that runs over both weekends on either side of Rob's birthday. It was the only time they could trade their time share for the place they wanted to go. I think my mom didn't realize it/forgot because she was talking about making his birthday cake, then later the dates came up, but she didn't seem too upset by it. Should I have the birthday party the second weekend after his birthday so they can come? Is that weird to do? As far as I know it's not like it would ruin anyone else's schedules, but it kind of annoys me that my parents weren't more upset about missing his birthday week when they realized it, even if they weren't going to/able to change the vacation anyway. Like, oh well, they would miss his birthday party. I really want them there even if they don't seem to care that much. And they do spend a lot of time with him otherwise, it's just the symbolism of the first birthday I guess.

They should be at the party...that kind of stinks though that they scheduled their vacation over his bday. If it were me I would definitely have the party on a weekend that my parents could attend. I couldnt imagine having a party my parents were not at.
I would schedule it so they could be there. I would love it if my parents were able to be at Ava's first bday party but they live over 2000 miles away and my mom has to have major surgery in a couple months. She won't be able to travel by then
