I know we've discussed our love of totoro before. 

I bought Elliot a copy of the fox version for his first birthday. Originally I ALMOST bought the crappy disney version without thinking about it. I ended up paying $52 total for the version I wanted, but the thought of watching it with him and him growing up loving it as much as I did is totally worth it. 

He's not into TV or movies or anything like that... but this June when he turns one, I'm totally watching it with him the night of his birthday. lol!

Have you seen the newer Disney version?  Is it really bad?  I haven't seen it, but I was under the impression it was basically just a re-dub with the Fanning sisters and other American actors and the animation and story were untouched.

It's the Japanese cartoon totoro that are you talking about ,you could have get it at Netflix and made a copy of the movie,they have so many good Japanese movies like,prince mononoke,ponopono,kiki's delivery,spirits away etc,

yes the Disney version is AWFUL. They fanning sisters really had no idea what they were doing. Dakota fanning mispronounces totoro the entire movie (she says it like "toad-or-row") and the way the phrase certain parts really changed how a lot of scenes fe
