Teething and weight loss :(

LO is just now getting teeth. She has two on the top and two on bottom coming in all at once. She has been refusing solids for a week, she averages three blow out diapers a day and she crys for tylenol and orajel. We've taken her to the doctor twice and she has lost almost two pounds.

Advice? Tricks? Help?

TIA

  • Are you bottle feeding, or BFing?  If she is willing to take bottles, get some of the Y-cut nipples and add a little baby cereal into it to get some extra calories in there.

Will she take purees on a spoon, or is she resisting

  • Oh, also, someone on my BMB recommended using Advil/Motrin instead of Tylenol, because they are anti-inflammatory and you can rub a little bit directly on the gums instead of using orajel.  It's the only thing that has worked for my DD.

  • She hasn't had finger foods yet. She is resisting purees on a spoon. She is bottle fed, but is still eating her bottles. I eventually put rice cereal in them and she ate them okay.

Your baby should be plenty old enough for finger foods.... When my DD is teething, I give her cold cucumbers to eat - she loves them and they soothe her gums at the same time. Also cold bananas are a hit. You could also try frozen peaches in one of those
