What have docs told you is best timing to wait for pregnancy after delivering in Oct??

Would love to hear what your docs have told you, regarding how long to wait after a vaginal birth. Thanks!

my dr was actually pregnant again with a 4 month period in between the birth and the pregnancy and she highly advised against it (and 2nd child had major issues, came really early, etc.). She said AT LEAST 6 months.
