I just wasted half a bottle of formula thinking DS was fussing because he was hungry. Didn't work so I gave him his Zantac since he hasn't had it yet this morning and now he's better. I have been trying to wean him from that because he hasn't been spitting since we added oatmeal to his bottles, but it seems like every time he gets super fussy like this, he is fine once he has the Zantac. The pedi has never seemed overly concerned about his reflux and so treatment was put off for about 4 months and I don't know what else she would tell me to do aside from continuing to give him the Zantac instead of trying to wean from it. Truthfully, I'm not entirely sure DS still needs it cuz sometimes it seems like he wants the meds because it is what the routine used to be. Is anyone else having difficulty getting your LO off the reflux meds and how did you eventually get through it? DS will vary the length of time between doses, he's gotten up to 2 days before.
Does this sound like the usual for weaning off reflux meds? Do I just need to throw in the towel and take him to the doctor and ask what else is wrong?
Re: What gives?
It's never good to give a daily medication, like those for reflux, sporadically or not consistently.
Zantac did shitt for us, honestly. We ended up on Prevacid and it's helped a tremendous amount. His GI has us slowly weaning him from it; we wen
