Sorry ladies for it being a couple days late I am just so obsessed with my little love bug!
Arden Parker was born at 5:23pm on Tuesday, March 19th 2013 weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long!
After a long week last week of NST's due to a lower BPM than they would like I was "hinted" by my OBGYN that she was working on Monday and to come in and deliver. I had been 3cm and 80% effaced and at -1 station almost 0 station and she was confident that just breaking my water would be enough to do the trick.
We arrived at 9pm only to have the biggest B*** of a triage nurse I have ever met. She insisted I was only 1cm and -3 station. After a slight argument because this contradicted the previous weeks worth of checks by 2 doctors and 3 nurses my doctor came in to tell the nurse she was dead wrong. It was quite awkward...
My doctor ordered me to go walk for 2 hours to see if I could push to 4 or break my water as I was now 90% effaced. Off my husband and I went, luckily it was a beautiful night in Orlando and we actually enjoyed walking and talking.
Upon going back in at 2am I had not dilated anymore but I was 100% effaced and having contractions every 3 minutes! We were then admitted and sent up to our room. I spent from 3:30-5:30am on the bouncy ball, my contractions only felt like light cramps and when my doctor came back in at 5:30 I was 4cm and she decided to break my water.
From 5:30 to 8am I walked, bounced and took advantage of many massages. I was then only 4.5cm, I started to get discouraged. Then all of the sudden my contractions kicked to 1-2 minutes apart and were the most painful thing I had ever felt, I tried to walk through them but by 10am I was back in bed. Due to the pain my nurse checked me again to find I had gone from 4.5-7.5cm in 75 minutes. They were shocked I had gone through transition naturally with no meds.
Due to the pain I gave in and was given an epidural at 12:30. This took away all my pain and after a 2 and 1/2 hour nap they checked again and I was 9.5cm! It was time to push! After positioning to drop her to the 1 station from 3-4 o'clock and letting the nursing staff set up I began pushing at 4:50 welcoming my little girl in only 33 minutes!
She is absolutely perfect and looks so much like her daddy! We are struggling to breast feed as she has a mean latch so I have been pumping and breast feeding every other feed to take some of the pain off.
Best of luck to the march mommies still left!
