Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Judge-y Moms

So a friend of mine from college has a baby blog and she was talking about how bad she feels gives giving up breastfeeding and how she feels judged by other moms. I had to stop breast-feeding after 5 weeks because of low milk supply and extreme pain in my left breast. When my husband's cousin found this out-it was like she was packed full of mommy ammo and came at me telling me how bad it is for babies to be formula fed and how she would NEVER do that to her little one. Blah! Blah! Blah! If I didn't feel bad enough already (which I totally did and cried for days when my husband was back at work) she then decided to tell me how I must feel SOOO lucky that I am a stay-at-home and that being a working mom is so much harder and better for baby.

Needless to say, I just ignored her at the time. I have opinions but after becoming a mom (and even before), I never would tell anyone that the decisions they have made are wrong. I don't understand why women don't rally together and realize that being a mom is tough but so rewarding-regardless of your decisions.

I have embraced formula feeding my baby. His doctor says he's one of the healthiest babies he has in his practice and his development is great. I love being a stay-at-home mom because it's a decision my husband and I made together based on what we wanted/what was best for baby/each other. At 5 months, he has sleep overs at his grandparents (2 nights a month for date night) and has done this since he was 2 months. They love getting to spend the time with him and I get to enjoy time with my husband. It is good for all us.

So for all you moms who are happy for each other-you're awesome and should know that I appreciate that you are not judge-y and don't force your opinions on me. :)

Anyone else have any good stories about other in your face moms?

Re: Judge-y Moms

  • Yes I've come across quite a few judgmental moms out there! OMG it's like who cares whether you BF or FF... it's no one's business and people should realize that everyone has their own circumstances and has to do what's best for them. </

  • I'm not going to say I've never secretly judged other moms... I think we all have and in hindsight I've realized a lot of things. But to tell you these things (which are completely ridiculous anyway) is so wrong of her. Honestly, I think they mostly come

  • I honestly think that no matter what you do, someone's going to side eye you for it.  I BF my DS until he was over a year and a half old while I was already pregnant with DD.  I had a ton of people who told me that I should have already stopped.

My husband's cousin's wife had her son 2 days before I had mine, so she is a mom.

I posted a status that said something like "I can't deep clean the house and take care of my baby" or something like that. A

  • Well said! And really if formula is so bad then why do they make it for our babies nutrition?? I never understood that. I'm glad you are able to stay home (I'm back to work part time just so I get adult conversation haha) but don't listen to people becaus

  • All moms are judgey, so I think the word you're looking for is twatwaffle.

    Definitely twatwaffle.

OP, FF if you need to.  The most important thing is feeding your baby.  Yes, breast is best, that is a biological fact.  BU

  • I used to put a lot of stock in other people's advice until I had an epiphany when my son was 2 months old.  I'm his Mom, I know best.  End of story.  No one knows your baby better than you do.  So take comfort in the fact that you'

  • I think it's horrible how people judge moms.  Everyone is different- not one thing is right, as long as we are doing our best to raise healthy happy children- that's all that matters.  I think it's a shame that a lot of moms judge other moms
