In search of advice ~ Kidneys

at 22 week anatomy scan we were told baby has one large kidney, we have been sent to maternal fetal medicine clinic, but that was just one big scary ordeal with a genetic counselor who said that our baby could have any of these genetic disorders because the original ultrasound wasn't very good. left alone in rooms to ponder the worst, then given an ultrasound again to confirm the left kidney is 4x larger than it should be, I was too scared at the time to ask any questions and now I think it has all hit me and I just have no idea about what this means for my little boy.

  • My little boy has an enlarged kidney as well. My husband and I were referred to a pediatric urologist after being told our baby would definitely need surgery to correct the problem by the perinatologist. The urologist was wonderful and told us that the

    Its a healthy girl!!!!!

  • Thank you, I have been ok for three weeks then just got worried all of a sudden I will ask about it tomorrow at appt.
  • They found DS's left kidney to be enlarged, then in a follow up, both were enlarged. We saw a specialist, and they were reducing in size, and he said that DS will probably need no follow up once he's born. He will be born tomorrow, so I'll let you know! G
