I like it as a nn for Harriet or Henrietta, not as a stand alone. 

As a side note, have you read the book The Twelve Tribes of Hattie? A very good, but not particularly happy, book.

I didn't reply below, but will say that I think Hattie is just fine on its own and I like it. Harriet is on our short list of girls' names and we would call her Hattie almost exclusively. An acquaintance of mine named her little girl Hattie, as the full n
